The Sacredness of Place as a Doorway to Belonging
There are lessons that we learn abruptly in life, as we navigate new territory and develop our experience of the world. And then there are those lessons that are only to be grasped through time, reflection and the evolution of our own spirit and understanding of what’s available to us on our journey. The appreciation for the concept of home is one such lesson. At least it has presented itself in that way for me, slowly over the expanse of my life experience as it has widened

Wild Haired Girl
I remember her well. That wild haired girl. The one who wouldn’t wear shoes and liked to run around in her underwear. Her imagination was blossoming. Each day, a new opportunity to create, explore and find pure joy in the infinite world outside. She could occupy herself for hours contently with a blank piece of paper, a pile of blocks, a puddle of mud, a pool of water to swim in. She was me, that wild child. And little did I know, she held all the answers already within her.

The Heart Fire of the Summer Solstice
The fire energy has entered. The long awaited Summer Solstice just last week brought with it a quickened force of momentum into the new that will unfold over the course of the next cycle of time as we live closer to the great Sun’s vital energy. This energy is moving from potential energy , as we sit with in the Winter and Spring seasons, into a kismet energy and force that allows for change, growth, expansion, creation and renewal to come forth swiftly. If your anything lik

Yin & Yang: How Contrast Creates Balance
Photo: Adrien Olichon During my time in art school, one of our prerequisite classes was Photography, which focused mainly on photo composition and was meant to help us as new students begin to find our creativity and explore a medium that is so commonly used in design these days. I personally really enjoyed the class. Specifically that it gave me the ability to discover all sorts of new areas within the city of San Francisco that I was residing in. So many mundane yet unique

Becoming "Anti-Fragile"
Photo: Johannes Anderrson When you bring up a conversation around millennials with someone of an older generation, what are the first things that come to mind? Often, we hear talk of two negative ideals. One, that they are lazy. And two, that they are overly sensitive. And although I myself am of this generation, I couldn't completely disagree with these statements. Although it is never a good idea to generalize an entire group to the point of labeling them based off specific

The Building Blocks of Nourishment
Photo: Syd Wachs Is there a time you can remember where you felt a genuine sense of satisfaction, joy and presence around eating? It most likely recalls a memory of a meal shared with loved ones or a particular dining experience that you eagerly anticipated for your favorite restaurant or holiday. And did this feeling of complete presence leave your whole being feeling cared for and nourished, or did you later say "it was worth it" amongst all the belly aches and evening woes

The Soil Holds the Key
Photo: Bruno Pereira When I first embarked on my personal journey towards holistic well-being over 8 years ago, it began with an initial and oddly abrupt awareness of my environment. I felt acutely sensitive and conscious of the products that filled my home and my life closely following my 23rd birthday. I took charge, vigorously and with a serious conviction purging my home of toxins and chemicals commonly found amongst us in this modern day. It started with bath and body

The Power of Mornings (and How To Carry It Through Your Day)
Photo: Life in Ceremony "Good morning world!" This is how I like to greet the day. I may not say it out loud, but each morning when I make time to sit quietly, crack open my journal, and put pen to paper, this beginning takes shape. There's not much in this world I cherish more than that time in quiet meditation each morning. My family is still sleeping. I crawl out of bed, put on the tea kettle, light a fire to warm the house and open a window to let in some fresh morning a

Traveling Light
Photo: Life in Ceremony In 2019, my husband and I planned to move on from our brick house in the city of Denver, CO. We searched for a quaint little apartment in the historic and cultured areas of the city, hoping to acquaint ourselves better with city life and find a community we so desired. I wanted to live more simply after taking on a 2 bedroom house with a basement we rented out on Airbnb. I was feeling like there were endless tasks to be done. Sometimes it seemed I coul

Your Power, Your Tools: Looking Within to Your Inner Healer
Photo: Life in Ceremony What a powerful moon cycle we've been experiencing this past month. I don't know about you, but the full moon on August 26th really hit home for me. It brought up all sorts of feelings. Feelings of uncertainty, difficulty, a lack of power. Needless to say I was all over the place internally. And the hardest part is that, as the days have gone on and we are now nearing the new moon this Sunday, I am still in a daily internal battle between light and da

From Where I Stand: Perspective Changes Everything
Photo: Nicole Harrington I found myself sitting across a long communal table in the early afternoon. A conversation had sparked about all things inspiring, driven and difficult. We contemplated simple beliefs and systems that were ingrained in our society, but didn’t really have much meaning to us personally. Things we just couldn’t find value in, as well as all of the things that modern day living has managed to strip out of our lives, yet somehow seem so vital to thriving
