Harvesting Abundance

Photo: Life in Ceremony

Today I invite you to take a pause. This is a special moment in time, one we witness each year, as the seasons subtly shift. A gradual slowing begins its steady process towards the inner most realm as we approach the fall equinox here in the northern hemisphere. Today we witness the full Harvest Moon, also known as the Corn Moon to the native people of this land. It represents the abundance we cultivate from the land at this time. The reaping of the seeds we planted in spring to nourish and sustain us through the colder months of late fall and winter.

In light of the full moon, this harvest truly emanates a spirit of reflection. One where we can step back, steady our gaze from the heat and activity of summer, and begin to see the abundance we have created in the last year. To me, this shift is almost more magical than celebrating the turn of our calendar year at the New Year holiday. Because this falls in alignment with the cycles of nature and our own remarkable human nature of creation. I don’t know many who are not fully enthralled with the coming of the fall season, and this must hold some significance to each in an intuitive way.

Although each full moon offers us insight and space to both become enlightened in what we have created as well as the choice to step forward into the next cycle lighter of what has passed through and realized its purpose, this one magnifies the potent energy of what has become for the entirety of the year thus far. It offers us space for intense gratitude for the life we have cultivated. Even if in a transitional or growth state, which we all are always. We have this chance to see where our actions, words and intentions have taken us. And where we would still like to direct them towards. In a sense, we now have a refined ability to aim our arrow true towards that which we most desire.

This time often brings a return of routine as the school year begins for many families. It puts a focus on settling into ourselves and lives. Even directing our gaze towards commitment, discipline and learning. And I love this potent energy. I even find myself craving it. The subtle ritual of it all. It all feels a bit magical in a mundane way. And I find myself honing in my gaze on the path I would like to take as I carry forward into the remainder of the year ahead.

So I invite you take a seat under the light of this epic full moon and witness her fullness. Her wholeness. Allow her to illuminate the fullness that already exists in your life, no matter what your working towards. Bask in the beauty that you have created and that already is reflected within you. Pause intentionally, and then take a step forward with your sights distinctly attuned to what you would like to create next. Shed the unnecessary “junk” of what may be clouding your vision or making your efforts harder than they should be. Allow yourself to navigate this next chapter with more ease, more flow. For grandmother moon is always shifting her perspective. She never stays in one cycle for too long. And although her light may fade to nothing, she knows it will always return and her wholeness will be shown in its integrity once again.

So aim true my dears. Aim true. And always remember the magnificent wholeness that exists within you.
